What to Wear Wednesday... a Maternity look!

This week's installment of What to Wear Wednesday is for the mommas-to-be!  I particularly focused on on-location wardrobe choices for a maternity session.  I often like to tell the mommas to feel free to bring more than one outfit so we can capture a little bit of variety during their maternity session.  I like to recommend cute sundresses or long skirts with a brightly colored tank top (that can be rolled up for some belly shots).  I also think jeans and a tank or cute top look great too!  You also really can't go wrong with basic black or white for maternity shots! 

What to Wear Wednesday... Sassy Sisters!!

What to Wear Wednesday is back this week with a fun fall or winter look for some sassy sisters.  If the parents are joining in just add in some shades of black, grey, and pink to coordinate!  I would definitely have mom accessorize with some killer shoes or a fun chunky necklace or maybe even a cool scarf!  I hope you enjoy this week's version of "what to wear Wednesday"!

What to Wear Wednesday... Stylish Siblings!

So... even though it's Thursday, I still wanted to post this week's segment of "What to Wear Wednesday"... I was so busy yesterday that I didn't get a chance to hop on and post!  This week I have selected a trio of outfits for some older school-aged children.  I started with the fun patterned polo shirt for the boy and then found some coordinating cute dresses for the girls.  Add some fun brown flip flops or even go barefoot!  Enjoy! :)

What to Wear Wednesday... a "Bright" family look!

It's Wednesday and we're back with another edition of "What to Wear".  I've teamed up with my fellow photographer friend Nicole in Michigan to bring  you these segments!  This week features a fun and bright, yet casual family look!  Don't be afraid to mix bold colors like green, purple, and blue!  That fun splash of yellow/orange on the dress just adds the perfect extra "pop"!  When combined correctly and with something that ties them all together, it can be a lively and interesting addition to your photographs!

"What to Wear" Wednesday.... a family look!

Hello to all of my wonderful blog readers!  Today marks the first of several (I hope) installments of a new little service to my clients called "What to Wear" Wednesday!  When clients book sessions one of the FIRST things they ask me is "what should I wear???"... Well in these installments I will guide you with visual collections of different "looks".  I started with a family ensemble because that is what I most often am discussing with my clients... what should we wear for our family photos...

I like to tell clients to put together the family's ensemble as if it were one oufit (so it all coordinates but is not necessarily a matching uniform).  I usually mention to start with one fun printed piece (a skirt or dress for mom or daughter, or maybe a fun printed or plaid shirt for the dad or the son)... THEN, pull different colors out of that piece for everyone else.  Try to avoid mixing too many patterns together becuase competing patterns will draw the focus away from the family. 

In today's example, I used some great, affordable clothing choices from OLD NAVY. I started with the daughter's dress and then pulled colors out of it for everyone else.... pulling the brown and red from the pattern on the dress.  The white and brown stripe of the baby brother's shirt pull in the white and brown from the dress.  Mom's red dress is a fun pop of color that still helps to create unity with the ensemble.
